Description

Originally owned by John Scadding, the City of Toronto purchased the land in 1856, which eventually became Riverdale Park. Starting in 1899, part of Riverdale Park West became the home of Toronto’s first zoo which closed in 1974. Riverdale Farm opened in 1978 and operates today as a living history site.
