Description
Here tour participants learn about the factory that once housed the vinegar company, T. A. Lytle & Co. Built in 1908 on the Junction Triangle's Sterling Road, it's one of the many former industrial sites that has been redeveloped to house a modern company.
Participants also learn about the history of advertising including painted signs on the side of buildings. Now known as ghost signs, they are painted directly on brick surfaces using oil and lead-based paints, allowing them to survive for many years. These types of advertisements were common before the 1930s, and declined in use over the 20th century.
