Description

When New City Hall opened in 1965, the city's former quarters was thrown into uncertainty as developers eyed its valuable real estate. The T. Eaton Company made a bid to City and Metro officials to purchase the land, demolish the building, and redevelop it into a vast retail and office complex. Public and official opposition to the plan would see it abandoned by the end of 1967.
